lesa salvaniLesa Salvani, Director

Lesa Salvani has been teaching the Pilates Method for 20 years. After graduating from the dance program at New York University's Tisch School, Lesa toured Europe, performing with Martha Graham Company dancers. Upon her return to Manhattan, Lesa began to choreograph national television commercials. Around that time, she was introduced to the Pilates Method by Carola Trier, one of Joseph Pilates' protégés. After training with Trier, Lesa continued on to study with first-generation Pilates teachers Kathleen Stanford-Grant and Romana Kryzanowska.

Lesa soon began to instruct Pilates on her own, coaching a wide range of individuals, from Pilates novices to athletes to company members of the American Ballet Theatre and the New York City Ballet. In 1996, she moved to Sag Harbor and opened In Balance Studio, the original Pilates studio of the Hamptons. Her mission is to pursue the classical teachings of Joseph Pilates, who believed that physical fitness was "the first requisite of happiness." Lesa draws upon years of intensive training to help her clients balance mind, body, and spirit through dynamic, intelligent movement.

Lesa is both a Certified Pilates Instructor and a Certified ACE (American Council on Exercise) personal trainer, and In Balance is a certified studio for Pilates instructors.
